2007 Events
Mt Cotton Hillclimbs In 2007, QUT Motorsport expanded our racing competition involvement to include the participation in the Mt Cotton Hillclimb series. Enjoying a very successful first season in the series, competitive driver Robert Hackwood and Cameron Short, frequented the top ten shoots out. The success of QUT Motorsport’s expansion into Hillclimb events culminated at the Australian Hillclimb Championships in November, where QUT Motorsport took out first place and set a new record in the Formula Libre class.
2007 Launch, October 2007 In the lead up to the 2007 FSAE Australasian Championships, the team unveiled the new 07 vehicle in October 2007. The launch included attendees - Queensland State Government’s Minister for Education, Training and Arts, Rod Welford, QUT Vice Chancellor Peter Colddrake, Built Environment and Engineering Dean, Martin Betts and Business Dean Peter Little. Held at QUT’s Gardens Point Campus, the event brought together university staff, external sponsors, school principles and team members, to celebrate the growing success of the QUT Motorsport team.
Indy Students Day, October 2007 In an event attended by thousands of school children both primary and secondary, QUT Motorsport had the pleasure of exhibiting a display at the Gold Coast Indy Students Day. Being held on the Thursday of Indy, the event proved rewarding for all 10 QUT Motorsport members in attendance. Having the opportunity to present on stage at Macintosh Island, QUT Motorsport members also enjoyed the festivities that are Indy.
TSXPO, July 2007 Each year, QUT Motorsport attends a number of university recruitment events, aimed at profiling QUT to a variety potential students. In 2007, displays were featured at both the TSXPO and Course and Careers Day, with the team also being involved in several on campus student visit days.
